    Additionally, our Nordgröna Cork products also function as pinboards, and Nordgröna Reindeer Moss serves as an indicator of air humidity in a space.

  • Our products are designed for indoor use. We do not recommend placing them outdoors, as exposure to weather elements could affect their quality and durability.

  • Installation instructions vary by product. Find and download specific instructions here.

  • A five-year warranty from the date of the original invoice covers any defects in materials, manufacturing or construction. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear. Any complaints relating to products supplied must be submitted to Nordgröna in writing together with documentation corroborating the nature of the fault.

Sustainability

  • At Nordgröna, we strive to be transparent about our environmental impact. While we work hard to reduce our footprint, no product can be entirely "sustainable."

    Instead of using broad labels, we focus on specific actions — such as using regrowing and/or recycled materials and supporting sustainable practices to minimize our environmental impact. By being clear about our efforts, we aim to empower you to make informed and more sustainable choices.

  • Our production facility in Arlöv runs on 100% renewable energy. We further minimize the consumption of energy and fossil fuels by optimizing packaging design and palletization. Additionally we reuse materials in product packaging throughout the production chain.

  • A significant part of our products is made from reindeer moss, a naturally regrowing material. The reindeer moss is picked in a way that allows it to grow back quickly, making it a key component of our products. While we do use recycled materials, the renewable nature of reindeer moss is one way we maintain our commitment to sustainability.

  • No. Nordgröna products adhere to stringent standards for VOC emissions, ensuring compliance with strict indoor environment regulations.

  • While our products can be disassembled and materials are recyclable according to local guidelines, we recognize that recycling options may vary. We encourage extending the lifespan of our products through reuse or donating them.

  • Our suppliers adhere to rigorous certifications: our reindeer moss supplier is certified by ISO 9001 & 14001, and our cork supplier is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) and the Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification(PEFC). Our Clearcut-Free Timber is is certified by the Swedish organization Plockhugget, ensuring that all forestry practices follow strict guidelines for environmental care.

Nordgröna Reindeer Moss

  • No, after the preservation process, it is no longer alive. However, it retains its vital look and feel.

  • Nordgröna Reindeer Moss is preserved using sea salts and additives developed in our production facility in Arlöv. You can read more about the process here.

  • No, you should not water it. Water can wash out the preservatives and is not needed, as the moss is no longer alive.

  • Nordgröna Reindeer Moss is maintenance-free. It naturally repels dust but can be gently cleaned with a feather brush or low-power vacuum if desired.

  • Nordgröna Reindeer Moss is hygroscopic; it adjusts to ambient humidity. When the air is dry, the moss temporarily dries out. As humidity increases, it regains its softness.

  • Yes, Nordgröna Reindeer Moss has a Class A fire rating, indicating the lowest fire spread rate and strictest rating for building materials.

  • Our reindeer moss is hand-harvested in Härjedalen, Sweden, and the Norwegian region of Rendalen. We work closely with landowners and adhere to strict regulations during harvesting. Read more about the process here.

  • Yes, reindeer moss (Cladonia stellaris) is a lichen that naturally grows in arctic and subarctic regions.

  • No, we employ a responsible harvesting approach where harvesters rotate and gather limited amounts from diverse locations. We harvest up to 20% of the mat's size every 5 to 6 years, allowing sufficient time for the lichen to naturally grow back. This method ensures that we do not endanger the lichen resource (Roturier et al., 2017).

  • No and yes. Reindeer do consume lichen, but harvesting is seasonal and typically occurs between April and October when the ground is free of snow. Therefore, we do not harvest lichen during a critical period when reindeer have the greatest need for it. Additionally, lichen is also picked and saved for reindeer so that they have enough food, especially during winter when the deep snow makes it harder for them to reach their food sources.

  • Nordgröna Reindeer Moss is highly sound-absorbing, thanks to its naturally fluffy texture, which enhances sound absorption efficiency. It also serves as an indicator of air humidity in a space. The moss adjusts to the ambient humidity—becoming dry when the air is dry, and regaining its softness as humidity increases.

Nordgröna Cork

  • Nordgröna Cork products are made in Portugal, near where the cork bark is harvested.

  • Yes, Nordgröna Cork is made from waste material from the wine cork industry. Wine corks are punched out of thick bark, and residual material becomes cork granules, which are mixed with a binder. Read more about the production process here.

  • Nordgröna Cork is made of 100% agglomerated cork. Recycled cork is finely ground and re-bonded into a solid material using polyurethane, a durable binder that helps create a long-lasting product. The agglomertade cork is molded into our products.

  • Nordgröna Cork products improve room acoustics by effectively diffusing sound. Additionally, they also function as pinboards, providing both acoustic and practical benefits.

  • Yes, cork is naturally fire-resistant.

  • Our cork products require no maintenance but can be wiped with a damp cloth if needed.

Clearcut-Free Timber

  • Clearcut-free forestry, or continuous cover forestry, means not cutting down all the trees at once. Instead, only some trees are removed to keep the forest healthy and full of different trees and living species.

  • We use a mix of wood types, including pine, spruce, oak, larch, willow, aspen, alder, ash, birch, elm, and rowan.

    In a clearcut-free forest, a variety of tree species naturally thrive together, so our wood types are a direct result of this diverse ecosystem.

  • We select a mix of species based on seasonal availability, ensuring the use of at least five different types. The mix consists of light, medium, and dark wood types.

  • Nordgröna Clearcut-Free Timber comes in a mix of 600mm, 1200mm, 1800mm, and 2400mm lengths.

  • The lengths are always mixed to avoid visible seams, minimize waste, and create a more natural, visually appealing look. Using different lengths also makes the installation more efficient and helps keep costs lower.

  • Our clearcut-free wood slat system Flora is sound-absorbing and achieves a class A acoustic rating when the slats are installed with 25 mm gaps in between, on felt, with a 45 mm layer of mineral wool behind. Its rounded edges also improve sound diffusion and overall acoustic performance.
