Flora

Design by Johan Berhin and Daniel Gezavati

Flora is a sound-absorbing wood slat system for interiors, made from certified Clearcut-Free Timber. This method involves harvesting only a few trees at a time, keeping forests healthy, increasing biodiversity, and storing carbon instead of releasing it.

All our Clearcut-Free Timber is grown, harvested, and sawed in Sweden.

Flora comes in four different lengths, mixed randomly to reduce waste and preserve the wood's natural colour variations.

Flora contains 100% Clearcut-Free Timber. Our Swedish forests include pine, spruce, oak, larch, willow, aspen, alder, ash, birch, elm, and rowan. We select a mix of species based on seasonal availability, ensuring the use of at least five different types.

Nordgröna Clearcut-Free Timber, certified by Plockhugget offers carbon storage within a building equivalent to 851 kg CO2 per cubic meter of wood, which can be credited in the Sweden Green Building Council’s NollCO2 frame-work. Additionally, Clearcut-free forestry practices enable greater carbon sequestration in the soil compared to industrial forestry, significantly increasing the actual impact.

Flora is produced using timber from Swedish mixed forests that grow and thrive naturally. The wood is sawn locally at the harvest site.

We reduce production waste by using natural wood in various lengths and preserving its natural look and color variations.

Flora can be treated to meet a range of fire safety standards, offering flexibility to suit different needs and sustainability requirements.

Flora achieves a class A acoustic rating when the slats are installed with 25 mm gaps in between, on felt and 45 mm layer of mineral wool behind. Additionally, the rounded edges contribute to exceptional sound diffusion, enhancing overall acoustic performance.

Flora requires no maintenance whatsoever.

Our products are built to last. To further enhance strength and resilience, Flora is coated with wax oil.

What Flora is made of

Clearcut-Free Timber

Nordgröna Clearcut-Free Timber

Our timber comes from close-to-nature forestry, where forests are treated as living ecosystems. We harvest selectively, avoid disturbing wildlife, support natural diversity, and let the forest care for itself, naturally.

We’ve outlined how it works and why close-to-nature forestry matters — for people, the environment, and the climate. To dive deeper, download the full document here:

Nature as designer

As an architect, you can incorporate the story of the forest into your designs with a material that’s responsibly sourced and naturally beautiful, bringing elements of biophilic design into your projects. You can also include a QR code or have the specific tree species engraved into the wood to learn about the exact origin of each piece.
