Wingårdhs Magasin 211

Winner of Stadsbyggnadspriset 2021 (the Urban Construction Award) in Malmö. Wingårdhs is behind the new design of the old building, and their Malmö office was among the first tenants to move their operations into the newly renovated 900 square meters.

Magasin 211 in Varvsstaden Malmö has a long history. The building was constructed in 1917 and has served as workshops, warehouses, and a fire station. Through careful refinement and reuse, the house now accommodates new activities. A contemporary layer has been added to the building's rich history, enabling its continued narrative. By focusing on preservation and reuse, and by utilizing materials from the material bank provided by Varvsstaden, the building's carbon footprint has been minimized.
